Happy New Year from Fresh Every Day.
In an uncharacteristic show of optimism, I admit that I love to make (and love even more to keep) New Year's resolutions. Below are my promises for 2011. Until then, have a most DECADENT evening:
Be more glamorous.
Run more marathons.
Read more books.
Save more money.
Dance more waltzes.

Fresh glamour, every day.

summergolightly asked: Oh hi! I love your blog. So question, why did you say the elliptical does absolutely nothing? Did you mean in terms of fitness or just in terms of becoming a runner? I ask because I've long been suspicious of this piece of machinery myself & would like to know if I should abandon it full-stop in favor of something else.

Anonymous asked: I love your writing! You must have some great literature on your shelves.
I'm going on a month long vacation to South America and wanted to know what books I must take with me! I generally love books with a little desperate romanticism (but think more Anna Karenina than Eat, Pray, Love). Please help!

If you had the opportunity to subscribe to a couple magazines of our choice, which would they be? I already get nymag and the new yorker.

Many thanks!

Gentlemen, call your women on New Year’s Eve if you can’t be with them. I rang in 2010 very far away from my honey, and when the clock struck twelve, felt so small and quiet. He wasn’t there. I look ahead a few years and see this: Years ago Mom would wait up with a book, the house humming, night sounds. Dad walked through the door - he was often gone for business for several days...
